@AlanLevinovitz this is my favorite fiction book. it's incredible writing. the opening is excellent. i also really like Faust. | @John_Stepek Great book | @Slavinskas_art I love that book. | Fun fact about this great book: Mick Jagger’s girlfriend gifted it to him in 1968 and it inspired him to write the song “Sympathy for the Devil,” whose lyrics suggest that the Communist Revolution in the USSR was the work of the devil | I really, really loved it. 5 out of 5. | Just left the Spasso House. So beautiful. The ball in one of my favorite books, The Master and Margarita, is based around a ball there! | My favorite nontech book is Master & Margarita | The Master and the Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov. A book from my great books list: | The devil shows up in Stalinist Russia, and gives everybody what they want, and everything goes haywire. | With two weeks left until labor day, a few book recommendations (and my reviews). 1. If you haven't yet read The Master and Margarita you really need to. Immediately.

The Alchemist
Try This Instead

Not sure if this is the right fit?

Consider The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Recommended by 51 sources.

A quick, dreamy fable about a shepherd chasing treasure who finds wisdom instead. The prose is easy, almost childlike, and the story moves through symbolic encounters that each deliver a lesson about listening to your heart. You’ll underline a few lines if you’re open to its message, but the charm fades if you bristle at repeated aphorisms. The main limitation: it can feel like a beautifully wrapped box of motivational quotes—inspiring to some, trite to others.
